I know what you mean about the reverse headstock, Marc. I can honestly say the the only thing I'd want to change is that .0047 capacitor. Ron, I hope you don't have much longer to wait for yours; in any case, it's well worth the wait!

As a lefty, that headstock looks "right" to me.

The V63 ran for what? 18 years? How long do you think these will be produced? You KNOW these will be in such high demand it will make your head spin..that's just the nature of things....make 'em unavailable and people will clamor for them!

I have another question for Mr. Hall or Ben. Very respectfully, can you give me an idea when my C64 will ship to Mike Parks? I know he was shipped one last month, but that wasn't my bass. The next one will be though. I'm getting real anxious to use it on stage. It was ordered a little over a year ago, so I'm hoping to get it before the current production run ends. Thanks.

I actually prefer the look of the V63 headstock better myself. These ones look upside down, but I understand why it is done this way..just not for me. But since the V63 was made for so long, and there are lots of 4001's and 4003's around, I don't think I'll have to look too hard for one.

Gerry, I played that very bass at Rudy's around early September. It was the first time I had seen a c64 in person and it was love at first sight! I picked up my own from a forum member off eBay for a GREAT price about a week later.

I know you've got an incredible bass there, enjoy it!

Oh yes I am enjoying it, John! It played great out of the box; and after a little tweaking, it plays even better.

I knew a Gerry Beckles in college - ND, Farley Hall - shared a dorm room one semester - and I remember when he bought a Rickenbacker bass - 1971 or 1972. I remember holding it and it was really cool (Gerry had turned me on to Yes, and Chris Squire had the same bass, I think. Of course I knew Paul McCartney used one in the MM Tour album I am The Walrus video).
This wouldn't be the same Gerry Beckles, would it?

Yes, it would be! You used to have a TR3, or some similar British sports car, didn't you? I'm surprised you remembered me!!! I now have a 4001C64 in Fireglo (along with a Fender Roscoe Beck V). We'll talk soon!

Hasn't grown on me yet but I can't play them with the horseshoe in the way anyway, oh well. They are pretty (from the neck down) anyway.

The horseshoe has never bothered me at all. I either play in front of it, or behind it. I love that reversed headstock too. It looks cool in person, and those horseshoes sound so good on both the C and the V. They make a nice pair.

I don't think I can play without the horseshoes...
