I´m lost, but I think it locks fantastic. Please help me on this one. I couldn´t find any Gibson bass forums

EB-3 or EB-3L from mid 70'ies? Does it say EB-3L on TRC?
What happened with the white BT 4003, Frode?

Frode, I have a very similar bass (1973) - this too would be a post 1972 EB-3 (among other differences, the earlier EB-3's had the neck pickup closer to the fingerboard...like some other brand I know...). Notice the selector switch and bridge cover are missing (my bass doesn't have the bridge cover too).
I rarely use it cause I'm a devoted Ric guy but today I recorded a track for a local singer and used the EB-3 - very rich and low sound. A really nice bass. Good luck!

I let one slip thru my hands 20 years ago and have been sorry ever since. It's not a Ric, but they are nice basses.

I've always been a fan of the Gibson EB basses . . . I say go for it.

I have played and enjoyed many basses in the last 30 years but I just could not get into Gibson basses other than the T-Bird. I mean the mid 70's (and earlier) T-Bird not those later Gib-o-phone imitations.

YDDDYPPP
YY is the production year
DDD is the day of the year
PPP is the plant designation and/or instrument rank.

So by this system, it is a '76.

Hold on, if it is a '76, then it doesn't apply to that system, which was implemented in 1977. It applies to THIS system....
1968-69 start at 750000-750999, I would guess it is maybe a late '67.

But the pickup's in the wrong position for the '60s versions. Also, AFAIK the long scale (assuming this one is long scale) didn't come out until the '70s.

Personally, I really like Gibsons with the big 'ol "mudbucker." Never played one of the two pickup models myself...

Mudbucker is a good way to put it. Image I've always gravitated towards basses that can cut through the mix. The Gibsons were always on the other side of the spectrum (except the T-Bird).

I had a '67 mudbucker equipped, and it was a beast. Not saying I LIKED it...Thunderbirds, TOTALLY different story.... Image
Harry, I got that off of Gibson.com, they have a serial number decoder.

that is a mid 70's . In 73 they moved the GIANT front humbucker back toward the middle of the bass . These basses in my opinion Blow major amounts of pie !
im getting to old for this ****
