Beatles covering songs by others..
Beatles covering songs by others..
Thousands have covered Beatle songs. But the F4 rarely covered other peoples songs (recorded, post Hamburg). And thousands of songs have been written that owe an enormous amount to J,P,G & R. Oasis are probably the most blatant.
But which songs would you have liked to have the Beatles cover?
I would love to have heard The Pixies' 'Here Comes Your Man' done by the boys circa 64 - 66. I can see John's knees flexing as he sings it, picking hand wrapped around the 325 in that inimitable style, with George picking the lead riff on his Gretsch.
Any others?

If memory serves me correctly, Noel Gallagher made a statement that Oasis is a better band than the Beatles. If that is an accurate report on his views then he's an air head IMO.
Also when George Harrison accused Oasis of being little more than a passing fad Noel commented "George was always the quiet Beatle, maybe he should keep that up" So with that in mind, I don't think the remaining Beatles are fans of Oasis.
They are a fairly good band though. Again, IMO.

I would have liked to have heard the Beatles do "Come and Get It by Bad Finger and All Right Now by Free. Two great songs that would have suited them.

Come and get it is on Anthology #3,you know. But all parts are performed by Paul, who wrote it. Great song, yes! I also like All right now (great verse, rather weak chorus). John (Lennon) in Paul's (Rodgers') role?
Searchers amongst my teenage favourite music. Still fond of them, but earnestly a little puzzled they are considered THIS big! But I'm very excited about this forum, and will love to read it regularly, and also contribute!

Thanks for the information Einar. I will look into Anthology #3. It's not one that I have.

The Pixies 'This Monkey' - is a great thought, and I can see them doing 'Where Is My Mind' circa Sgt Peppers too.
As for Oasis .. Couple of good songs, but for the rest .. Yawnn..
Now that I think about it I can also hear John doing "Watching The Detectives" by Elvis Costello, while I can hear Paul doing "It Must Be Love" by Madness (originally by Labi Siffre)
