Damn. I was the lead bidder on the auction and I was really interested in it. Oh well.

I had a feeling that it would slip away to someone other than me ... If that BIN had been there when I saw it I would have pulled the trigger ... someday I will get a white 4003 with black trim and black binding ...

I'm disappointed he didn't just let the auction run its course. I was really interested. I've been wanting a clean white 4003 for a while now.

How in the world do you get the finish to crack like that? Did he ship it back and forth every day between the equator and the north pole?

that bass is in a sore need of refinishing ... I wonder how the frets are and I bet the black hardware has rust coming through from underneath ...

He should put the money toward paying the electric bill so he can turn on a light when taking his pictures, or maybe buying a flash for his camera!

or...

Was his bass IN THE CAR when the tree fell on it?

Relating to this thread, here's a 2000 white/white I picked up recently. I was wondering if this is an original finish or not?

The cavity has the serial number in it, and it looks like a good job, but the finish by the neck in the bass p/up cavity had me wondering. The fingerboard has had the lacquer stripped, along with the p/up mods.

Any thoughts guys..

I believe in 2000 that the SN would be on a printed sticker in the cavity from the factory. I'd guess that is a nice refinish...

That white/ white is awesome. I should do that to my 97...
