I am looking for a capacitor to replace the existing one in the bias supply of my Fender Bassman. I understand that I should be looking for a 47-50 microfarad 160v cap.
Is this value correct and if so where might I find the same? I can't seem to find them, so I am guessing that there is a substitue that will do.

Peter; I just called my tube amp repair guy, and he thought the values are correct, and suggested that you search for"Digikey", then search the cap value, which should lead you to the cap area I guess, find your cap..then order.. he said he pretty much gets next day delivery... another option would be Electrosonic in Toronto
Thanks Richard. I will give it a try.

Peter, www.tubesandmore.com (Antique Electronics Supply in Arizona) has them. You can also try Mouser, Digikey, Allied Electronics, Hoffman, Webervst, and others. Webervst would probably be one of the cheaper and quicker ones for someone on the east coast (Canada) like yourself. You can go up on the voltage rating if you can't find something at a lower voltage, but you shouldn't go any lower than the 47uf or any higher than 100uf for a bias supply cap. Also, make SURE to hook it up the correct way, which is backwards for the bias supply, or you'll blow the cap up.
Thanks again Greg. The parts are on order and I will let you know how it turns out.
