Ottawa has what they never had before, Cup quality goaltending. Lalime could never get it done. My only concern is that they might not have enough grit. They have blown out a lot of teams, but in the playoffs when things tighten up, are they going to be able to skate right by opposing defencemen?
But their scoring lines and power play are downright SCARY.

So this has degenerated into an NHL smak thread?
After tomorrow night I'll be able to say if I think the Lightning have woken up. Last three games they've been forechecking like wild men. Their whole game is predicated on that, and when they do it effectively they cause PP units like the King, Stars and Thrashers to go 0 for 11...and their powerless play (~13% going into the LA game) starts clicking at nearly 30%...and they start outscoring other teams by a 3 to 1 margin.
Us Bolts fans are looking at a big test against a bad team, the Panthers, tomorrow. Roberto Luongo has been a witch against us in the past. If they can take the kitty-cats tomorrow, and look like they have, I'll be feeling A LOT better about this season...

LOL I was just ribbing you a little, John. I hope they come back to form soon, maybe Mats needs to lose the visor?
I understand too well why he wants to wear it, but he hasn't been the same with it on.
Ottawa is a great team, no shame in losing to them.

I am freaking ecstatic this year. My Rangers are in contention!
I'm glad to see a discussion about something so obscure, yet something I happen to be interested in - vintage NHL jerseys! I've got an old Oilers and an old Jets jersey, looking to go for the old Pens or Nordiques next. But Brian, what's your beef with the Rangers' uniforms?

Steve, I feel the same way as you....but if you want to take this up somewhere else....if I owned a phone I would tell you to call me so we could settle this like real men...I work eight hours a day pushing a very LARGE broom around a very LARGE school...so if you want to settle this.....hey...does this sound familiar to you Steve (and yes I am hoping to make you laugh!)

How old, John? I have a vintage 1996 authentic Jagr (bought at the game where Bowman registered win 1000 in the Burgh) I might be looking to let go of....it's the black one with "Pittsburgh" lettered like the Rangers logo. I collect em, let me know if you're looking for something. (also have a Richter and Gretzky NYR jerseys!)

John I had visions of the Rangers third Jersey in my mind when I wrote that. I dislike that one. It is far too busy. Their current away Jersey (the white one) is cool.
My Canucks stunk up the joint last night too. What is going on? Their lack of consistency on the road is driving me nuts.

Brian, the only Gretzky one I have left is the Rangers away jersey, I had the white Kings "Silver Season 25th Anniversary" jersey he wore when he scored 802, but I sold that a few years back.
John, that Jagr jersey is the heaviest, thickest jersey I have ever had in my collection. A real special one. I also have one of his with the "new" vintage logo from his last season with the Pens, with the "C" on it. Again, black with yellow and gold accents.
