More "Ringing tone" on the "Convertibles?

Post by craviola990 »

Hi Guys- Thought I read somewhere once saying that the "Convertible" guitars had a "Bit more ring to them" than the standard 300 or 400 models because of that extra piece of wood in there. Any truth or falsehood to this? Been wanting to know for years! Thanks, Christian

I believe that all 330/360 twelves(after '66) had that same block of wood in the body. I know my '69 360/12 WALNUT has it. Anyone else?

I know they weigh more, LOL...

I have owned 3 12-strings with the block, still have two of them....I don't know that they prove to 'ring' more; in fact I had thought my 360/12CW with the thin top sounded better, a bit more robust than my 60s 12-strings. The guitars with the blocks may be a bit brighter, but I think the guitars with the thinner tops are more resiliant..

My 1st Rick 12, a '68 360-12 had the "extra wood inside".
