Chris Squire's Fender VI Bass

Post by mgauction »

I am trying to make a deal on this bass, maybe. Information from Steve Howe's tech (Hugh Manson, I think) says 'he used this bass...in the studio and on stage for "The Yes Album," Fragile," "Yessongs," and "Going For The One." Is there any belief to anyone in this forum that he would use a bass like this in the studio? Never seen a picture with him playing a Fender VI.

I recall reading somewhere a long time ago in a galaxy far away that the bass line to Roundabout was doubled an octave higher. If this is so, it could maybe have been a Bass VI or perhaps just a guitar. Maybe!

I was in that galaxy also Jeff. I seem to remember that it was doubled on an acoustic.

That was an awsome galaxy though, wasnt it Jeff ?

I remember reading an interview in which Steve Howe said he doubled the line on guitar. I don't remember him saying with what though, was a long time ago, probably in Guitar Player.

I believe the "roundabout" line was doubled on a Gibson archtop acoustic, which Howe later sold to Squire.
