Colour bleed on Midnight Blue 4003
Hi,
I bought a November 04 built Midnight Blue 4003 a short while ago and it has always felt a bit 'sticky' on the back of the neck when playing. I have always had to give it a quick polish afterwards.
I have now noticed that the blue colour has 'bled' into the binding on the top of the body where my right arm rests on the bass and also - most pronouncedly - on both the upper and lower white binding along the edges of the neck.
I am totally certain this is a genuine Ric MB 4003 as I have all the documentation for it, etc. I am just rather surprised that this has happened.
Does anyone know any quick 'cures' for this condition. It's only a slight cosmetic thing, but I would prefer to be able to fix it if possible.
Practically impossible to get a good photo to illustrate it, unfortunately...

Ian,
I have a '03 Midnight Blue 4003, along with a couple of other 4003's, including a '94 jetglo and a '00 mapleglo. I've never had any problem with color bleed on any of my Ric's. Could you post a photo to help us diagnose this? What have you been polishing it with?
Personally, I LOVE the Midnight Blue finish. It is my favorite of all of the Ric finishes, everything included.

I will try to get a photo of the colour bleed. It looks like the blue has been smeared onto the binding. Damn irritating.
