those acoustic 360s are good amps ... and I consider my pod as one thing ... I have one cable in and one cable out and I have a 4 button pedal that easily accesses 4 presets ...

I have 4 presets that I use ...

#1 is acoustic 360 with distortion and compression and lots of mids for growl

#2 is a clean retro tube amp sound with compression

#3 is the acoustic 360 with distortion and compression and the mids scooped out for a Squire sound

#4 marshall with chorus and compression

I just puled the trigger on the Fulltone Bass Drive. After reading reviews and help from you guys it looked pretty attractive. The Budda, and Line 6 got my eye, but they are a little too salty for my blood. The Fulltone was to, but not quite as.

Robert and Brian, any recommended settings you like?

It sounds good no matter how it is set (IMO).......it just depends on how much "drive" you want. I run my Demeter Compulator all the time as well so that has an impact on how the Fulltone sounds. It only took me a few minutes to dial it in to my perfect tone and I'm sure you'll find what you need within a short time.

"Andrew, Could you tell me more about the Budda Phatbass? I've looked at it many times but I always end up getting scared away by the cost.
Thanks for your time,
Bob"

Hi Bob,
The phatbass is a great pedal at giving you a really warm, natural sounding distortion. it sounds the most like an overdriven tube amp to my ears. Why i chose it though is i tend to set it low and just leave it on all the time to give my tone a bit of grit and hot tube warmth. the eq on the pedal gives a wonderful quality to the presence of your sound too. it adds a nice sparkle to my overall sound. i've tried many distortion pedals and the phatbass has stuck the longest.
i prefer it to the much loved fulltone bassdrive, but do think the bassdrive has a lot going for it over the phatbass (more versatile, smaller, runs on a battery if need be). i don't mind lugging a pedalboard and mine has 3 distortion boxes on it, so i can get away with not having the phatbass be a swiss army knife of distortion sounds.
the pedal i'm most eager to try next is the new EBS Valvedrive. that looks like a great distortion box.
my pick for an affordable pedal with good tone is the gallien-kreuger diesel dawg. it's big and ugly and has a ridiculous name, but it sounds really sweet! definitely an overlooked distortion box imo.

Thanks for the rundown Andrew. I've alway been a fan of Budda stuff. I've been playing guitar through a 1x12 Verbmaster for a couple of years now and it's just a well put-together amp. I've been trying to convince myself that I should try a phatbass pedal for a while. It sounds like I should.

Thanks again!!

Well christopher, the only effect I can find much use for is distortion/fuzz, and my head has that more than covered. So, the one and only pedal I run is a tuner. I figured more people would say a tuner, it is something I never play without.

Whoa, I wrote a whole huge post a while ago to explain a couple of my settings on the Fulltone, and I thought I'd pressed the post button, but apparently not . . . huh . . . anyway . . .

Okay, my favorite thing to do is to get this very slight output boost/overdrive, similar to how Geddy Lee sounds on "A Farewell to Kings". The settings are:

Volume: 12 o'clock, Tone: full, Toggle: CompCut, Drive: 8 o'clock, Boost: N/A. Just hit the on switch, not the boost switch.

Also, if you want a nice deep-yet-cutting sound (I use it when I cover "21st Century Schizoid Man), set it as such:

Volume: 12 o'clock, Tone: 12 o'clock, Toggle: CompCut, Drive: 10 o'clock, Boost: N/A. Once again, no Boost switch.

To get really nice "dirty" overdrive and distortion, I mostly keep the Tone all the way up, Volume at 12:00, and then move the Drive knob around between 12:00 and off. The middle setting on the Toggle switch is regular overdrive, while the down setting is "Vintage", so it's got a bit more echo-y noise.

Also, for a really nice screaming fuzzed solo or chord sound, a la Roger Glover on "Fireball", put Volume on 12:00, Tone on full, Toggle on Vintage, Drive on 8:00, and Boost on 11:00, and then hit the Boost switch.

It's really easy to mess with, so just experiment.

Boss TU-2 Tuner pedal, same as John. I cannot live without it, both as a tuner and as a volume cutoff just by stomping on it. Also, my guitarist tunes to it before shows and between sets, so it's doubly critical.

I don't use a lot of effects. Occasionally chorus or a synth effect, for cover songs.

Hahahahahaha! 21st Century Schizoid Man is just one of those songs that EVERYONE notices, whether they've heard it before or not.

Yeah, we try our best to do it with just bass, keys, guitar and vocals . . . the keyboardist is also a drummer (plays like Emerson on keys, Palmer on drums), but, frankly, we NEED someone to fill in for the saxophone part on that song, especially considering our guitarist has a hard enough time playing that "Solo From Hell" bit, with all the unison runs . . . we need to find a drummer who just plays drums!

Seriously, though, it's like THE MOST FUN song to play ever, and if everyone has their parts down, it's not too hard to get it to work correctly (until said "Solo From Hell") . . .

I'd list a tuner since it is essential but I have a rackmount so it doesn't count.
