Steve,
They sure would with the roundwounds on, Ive had my 4001C64 FG since April last year, I think I got the only one up for sale that was in the UK at the time I got it, cant fault it in anyway at all, absolutely love it, also it looks alot darker fireglo to my FG 4003 aswell. Has a great 60's vibe to it
Think I will take a trip to the USA guitar shopping this year looking for C64s's

My C64 arrived today! What a nice bass it is! The fireglo is very, very nice! Here are some things I first noticed between the C64 and my V63:
1. The neck on the C64 is a little wider and not as slim as the V63. But it is still very nice and comfy. It's in between the V and my 4003 I think.
2. The horseshoe, as has been stated by others here, is not as strong as the V63 shoes. The toaster is a little stronger on the C though. Still, the C has very similar sound quality and tone.
3. The fretboard is the NICEST I've ever seen on a bass of any kind. Much nicer then the V63. The bridge saddles are very nicely done on the C too.
Overall, an excellent bass! Well worth the wait IMHO! I can't wait to gig with it!

I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again
Mine is an '02.....and I echo your sentiments about the c64, Randy.....the neck on mine seems to have a flatter profile than any previous Ric I've owned! ...and it is a bit wider , too.... I'm sure I'll get used to the reversed headstock....it's kinda growin' on me! I took off the Pyramid flats and put on the original Ric roundwounds, 45-105's and it sounds tremendous!
I kind of blew off the c64 when it first came out , thinking it was just a different "v63" , but these things are REAL, and stand on their own...they've got it all, vintage looks ,modern neck....nice, nice tone! ....and the fireglo is perfect.

I took off the Ric rounds and put Chromes on mine. I'm going to save the Ric strings and use them as back ups for my 4003. I like the reverse headstock on the C too. They do stand up on their own quite well sound wise and are not the same as a V63. I agree with you on the fireglo too Chris.
