Brass nut?
hi i have a 73 4001. i was wondering if the brass nut on my bass is stock or aftermarket?thanks

Eric: Welcome to the Rickenbacker Forum. Not many Rickenbackers have used brass nuts. Please tell us what your experience with this after market installation has been. There was a 360/12 for sale a few years ago that was nicely setup with a brass nut. Perhaps the purchaser of that instrument will see this and compare notes with you.

My '68 Ric had a brass nut installed by stars guitars in the '80s ... It makes the Ric a little brighter and harsher ... I recently put a Ric plastic nut back in ... It is a little softer and warmer .... I like it a little better with the Ric nut ...
This was a popular mod for basses in the '70s and '80s ....
You can also use an aluminum nut on a bass ... it is supposed to have a similar sound to the brass ... I tried bone and didn't like the look or feel or sound ....
