Stevie Ray Vaughn's Ric

Post by jaime_h »

Although known for his 59 strat, SRV played a firgeglow Ric 360 in the early days of Double Trouble (1979). Page 99 of his biography "Caught in The Crossfire" shows Stevie holding it.

It think was in the video, too!
Either "Crossfire" or "Cold Shot".

Photo please! No one believes me when I tell them about this.

It's a 360 WB (or 360 OS), by the way.

It's old, like a '60 Capri..it's got the old lines to it IIRC...

Here's another shot for those who still don't believe SRV played a Rickenbacker!

There are some awesome talents who play the guitar, but very few who play it as if were an extention of their body, as if it was part of them. Stevie is one of those few.

It doesn't surprise me to see him with a Ric however, most top artists have at least toyed with them. Anyone got a shot of Hendrix with a Ric?That I have never seen.

Did SRV ever record with it?

I have an early recording of SRV when Lou Ann Barton was singing with him. It was recorded in Nashville around 1979, wouldn't surprise me if the Ric wasn't used on at least one track.

Never seen Hendrix PLAYING a Ric, but there's another trippy shot of him with a Jetglo 360 of some type (found elsewhere on Peter's site?).

I thought SRV's Ric was a WB, but not a Capri. Oh well.

SRV's Capri looks like a '59 model with it's ultra flamey neck. I believe it was FG too. I'd love to see/hear him playing that guitar.
