It looks pretty Brian, but the neck is a bit wonky and needs some professional help!

Hmm, anyone notice that the control layout and knobs look identical to the 4004 series????

Good luck Paul. Looks to be a cool bass.

Yes, Scott. I don't know about the guts, but the knobs, microtoggle, and layout are the same as 4004 series. Others in the 2000 series had four pots (two vols, two tones), and I haven't done all the research necessary yet to understand the changes in the series. Hey, if I don't win this one, the winner has to get me photographs for the book! Promise?

Interesting contrast with the circuit board from my 2030. I wonder how the sound differs?

Ouch, over 1000. I'm out.

With this and the 3001 that went thru the roof, the bargains in the RIC world are becoming few and far between.

What did the 3001 go for? Was that the $700 one?

Chris, it went for $1425, which is as high as I've ever seen a 3001 go for. It has been modded, and may be a re-fin. I've never seen a burgundy 3001, but that certainly doesn't mean they don't exist.

And Paul, good luck on the 2060.

$1,425 for a '76 3001? that's CRAZY. $600-700 is realistic.

I'll bet we're going to see now a flood of 3000 series basses on eBay.

Ilan, LOL, watch that space. My mint 3000 FG will be for grabs soon! About 2 weeks time in fact.

Unbelievable. If I could get that kind of bread for my 78 3001 I'd unload it in a heartbeat. It's in better shape than that one!

the circuit board electronics sounds different then the toggle and 2 pots I have 2 2030 basses and a 2020 ...

my 86 2030 has single coil pickups ... it has a ton of treble bite and unbelievable sustain and good low B performance ... and it has the circuit board ...

Image

my 93 2030 has hb2 pickups and it has tremendous growl ... it is a little darker and thicker sounding ... not as much sustain and good low performance ... this bass is so hot I usually can't turn it up all the way ...

Image

my 2020 was originally wired like a 4004 but I rewired it vvt with 1000k ohm pots ... this bass is also to hot to turn up all the way ... it has good sustain and good low b performance ...

Image

they are not quite as good as a 4003 but I think they are cool ...
