I will speculate.

Just a wild guess mind you. A "Curmudgeon" special variation of MB

After such a long run speculating what Melissa's guitar was going to look like, is this thread taking a breather or have people lost interest know?

I for one would like to see how the 481 turned out and the the restoration of o'l Purple.

C'mon people let's rally to see this through to a completion - don't let it fade away!!!!!

I shipped it back to her today. She's on vacation now.

Melissa still has to pick a color for the 481. I haven't completed all the samples yet. Hope to get these done this week.

So are you going to let us in on the before and after of the repairs, or would you prefer not to disclose that Paul? I understand about trade secrets and all, you've shared so much with us all in the past, but you have to draw the line somewhere I guess. I'm just curious as to how bad the damage was and what you did to rectify it.

The damage was quite minor, as it turned out. It was limited to a 1/4" diameter chip in the guitar's edge, right above the jackplate area, and a few scuffs and tiny nicks here and there. The scuffs and nicks were hand-sanded and buffed out. The chip wastouched up to match and shot with varnish, then sanded and buffed, again by hand.

I took some closeups, but they're pretty uninformative compared to the description above. I was prepared to respray the guitar up to a certain point, but thankfully did not have to. So it's back in its glory.

Thanks for the follow up Paul, I see the initials in your name are now in Upper Case. Peter's been weaving his magic too!

Sounds like wonderful news to me.... Paul, I'm glad the damage was fairly easy to fix! I will be so thankful to have that one back again....Perfect. Image

I am still on vacation, but have tried to check in here at least once a day, LOL! This has been a much-needed break for me, but tomorrow it's back to the grind, with more frequent online stops--I've kind of missed everybody! Image

Melissa, are you monitoring your boreal e-mail address? I'd like to contact you off board.

Thanks.

I'm back home again.... you can email me anytime, Paul--even when we're traveling we usually take our laptop, and I try to check my email at least once a day--I'm a true internet junkie, LOL!
