Chrome Pickguardian on 4003fg

Post by drathbun »

I've just installed a chrome pickguardian with a clear pickup guard on my 4003fg. I think this is the best possible combination to maintain the chrome look of the bass after removing the bridge pickup cover.

That's the first time I've ever seen a pickup replacement for the surround without cringing. Nice.

Where do we get those? I really like the look with the Fireglo.

Excellent pics. I've been toying with the idea of the Pickguardian. I think you've made up my mind. I'll get one now. Although I'm probably one of the few that doesn't have a problem with the pickup cover or the lack of bevel on the body. The rick seems to have been made for me.... Yes!!!
Gorgeous bass, by the way.
What d'ya mean... the bass is TOO loud!

Was that 4001 made in 1976, Lars? (First letter on jackplate: 'P')

Looks much better than the white one I installed, I might need to change it for the chrome one. Which one is that on the order page (I can't see one labelled 'chrome')?

Thanks

Jon: It is the one called "NEW Mirrored Plexi". It is more expensive than the plain. It is the first one in the list just under the photo of it.

Lars: I thought the white pickguard material would change the look of the bass. The thing I missed when I removed the cover was all that glittering chrome (I think the 4003 bass looks like a '57 Chev all two -tone and chrome with fins). So this keeps the effect while freeing up the strings!
