Thanks Jeffrey. She is a beauty. Almost everyone who has seen it has commented on the color. This is the only Rick I've ever owned and I've wanted one ever since I saw "The Rasberries" on tv back in the early seventies and their bass player was a lefty who played a blue one. Now I finally have one and it was worth the wait...what a great bass. I just had to have a Macca spec bass and I love it. It goes great with my '62 Hofner reissue.

Just looked at your profile - I guess it is. You're not the only person to have stood in that corner with a 4003 whilst wearing a Rush T-Shirt.

dw drums - you're not playing in a Rush tribute are you? If so, out of interest, which one?

Jon, the 'cavern' is in Southampton. Planet Sounds rehearsal rooms. I'm not in a Rush tribute band. I'm in a 3 piece rock group called S-O-H. We play 60's, 70's, '80's, 90's covers. In a 3 piece you need the Ricky to 'butter the bread' so to speak. Are you from the 'Ton area?

I'm actually in London, but one of my bands (not the Rush tribute) sometimes rehearses at Planet Sounds (we're based London/Bournemouth so Southampton's a reasonable compromise). I thought I recognised the room. Was quite surprised a few weeks ago when I was unloading my gear there and a young lad rehearsing in another room saw my shirt, came up to me and said '2112 - awesome album!'.

It's great that the younger generation are discovering what we all know. My favourite albums are Hemispheres and Exit.. Stage Left. All Rush stuff is excellent, but those two stand out for me. The tone on Exit is, IMO, unsurpassed by any rick player, ever! Geddy Lee is GOD.

I'm a bit further north in Scotland and am really getting into Geddy. Had a few jazz basses but none of them gave me the sound I get from a 4003.

I use a couple of Jazzes myself, but I'm always at my happiest on the 4003!

I don't know if it's of interest to you, but there's a drummer in Fife looking to put together a Rush tribute at the moment.

Mmmmm. That would be really cool.

the only problem could be that I don't look anything like him and sing almost as good as my friend's dog when its howling at the telly.

But then I suppose it depends how close to the real thing he wants it to be.

I'm in a Black Sabbath Tribute band but don't have a Vigier, a moustache, play over the neck pickup or have long hair so there may be hope for me.

I'd be happy for you to give him my email address depending on what he wants to do (assuming he doesn't yet have a bass player)

I dont think a Rush tribute band has to look like them. Beatles, well, yeah, maybe, but not Rush since their looks were not part of their image.

Isn't it fascinating how the Geddy / Ric comparison always comes back around? He must have influenced almost everyone in some way.
