The Blackening Continues........BWAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!

Well, I guess I really don't know how bad that little 2.2 spun up to...I didn't have a tach in it. But my dad (a mechanic) and the guys who looked at it at the local Chrysler dealer said it was pushing that high. It didn't run like that for long...only when I put it in neutral to brake or stop...I'm sure it would have done serious damage no matter what the real RPM max was if it did it for more than a minute or two at a time.
The story was that it had a Horizon/Omni carb put in by a hack my mom used to take it to. After they gave it to me I had to re-build the head, and while struggling with that at the student auto shop at RPI a guy told me it was wrong. At the time I just wanted my car to work.
A few weeks later the strength of the re-built head blew the carb up on that drive. I cobbed it so that I could get home, found a junked carb similar to what I really needed (at least from a Reliant) and re-built the carb.
It was a "happily ever after" from there, at least until I totalled the car a year later in a snow/ice storm.
