My B day present from Jeff Thomas

Post by nattiep »

I woke up this morning (Actually it was 1:30pm Image) To find a package from Jeff Thomas. We had emailed each other a couple times and he never bothered to tell me what the present he was sending me was. I opened the box to find some odd bubble wrap and a T shirt with duct tape on it. I cut off the tape and un rolled the shirt to find a brass nut and 4 Schaller M4S tuners! I love it! He's been paying attention to my Geddy Lee mods threads. It's funny too.. I got a package from my grandmother with some RS66 strings too! Now I just need a Badass and white plastic and I'll be set!

THANK YOU JEFF! You didn't have to give me a present, but when you did you gave me one I really wanted!

Hey Nate, I can send you a Badass if you really want one. I have a Badass II and 2 gen 1 Badasses. Take your pick. The II is the one on my 4002 which was set up to be just like one of Geddy's. It will give me an excuse to finally take it off.

I'd like to take the II, but that's not period correct! I'm modeling my bass after Geddy's '77. It has the Schallers (I think) and the Badass I. How much do you want for it, Ted? Is it chrome? Image

Yeah, I'm surprised! Most people I know are jerks, but people here are accepting and way too kind.

You're welcome Nate! I bought a 4001 case on ebay a few years ago that came with a bag full of Rick goodies inside. He knew they were there and told me to keep them as he knew that I was a Rickaddict. Actually the bag o' parts was worth more than I paid for the case. It had two TRCs in it, the M4S tuners, a jack plate, bridge/tailpiece, brass nut, and a bridge pickup surround. They came off of a '77 4001 that his cat knocked off the stand and busted off the headstock. He had it repaired, but it wasn't a good job and the bass wasn't the same. The guy got irritated while playing it out once and did a Pete Townshend on it.Image

I wasn't gonna use the tuners, and I'd rather put a smile on your face than sell them on ebay. Glad to hear that my plan worked!

Joey Vasco has its jack plate on his 4001FL. Its nice that we can transplant some of these old parts thanks to this forum.

And good on you Ted for the Badass bridge offer! See how nice we are in Chicago? And all we hear when we travel abroad and tell people we're from Chi-Town are references to Al Capone, the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, pinstripe suits and machine guns!

And BTW...I AM a jerk. But, a nice one maybe?! Sort of like the Good Witch of the North?!

Way to go, Jeff! I've found some of the people here to go way over and above the call of duty when it comes to being cool to each other, and it's nice to see it happen again!

Hey...Its all good! I've learned a lot here and met some cool people.

And its good to practice random acts of kindness once in a while. It sorta makes up for that time I was mean to that kid on the playground at school. Or the time I stole that.....(?) Or the time I had my girlfriend out past curfew! Or that time I sort of mowed down that mailbox in my '72 Cutlass on purpose. Or the time I ....

Okay, so maybe I have a whole lot more random acts of kindness to go, but its a start!

ROFL! Good Witch of the North! Hahahahah!

Ted, that's perfect! If I get that then I'll just need the new plastic. Hell, you and Jeff just saved me $300!

I'm good with random acts of kindness too, but it's usually with money. If I have money and I know someone else needs it more then me then they can have it.. not counting now! I need my money!

Congrats, Nate!
I've also got an unexpected present from a fellow forum member once (two were sent to me in fact, but the second was - aaaaah!!!Image - lost somewhere...)
And i was a bit shocked... you know, i don't often get presents, and when the sender is a guy i've never met in person...
