Starting Over Video

Post by shamustwin »

After VH1 interviewed Dick Cavett this weekend (focusing on the John and Yoko interviews), VH1 played a video for this song I'd never seen. It looked new.

Started out with a view of a country house (English?) and inside were tons of Lennon/Beatles photos and memorabilia. His glasses were on a table and his '58 and Miami Ricks were leaning against the wall. The impression one gets is that the time is now, and he's still alive.

However, the pictures on the table whirlwind up and out the window, eventually landing and becoming the "Imagine" marker in Central Park. The video ends with a shot of the Dakota. Very well done video, sort of melancholy, begining as it does with what appears to be "Lennon's" country home, ending with the Dakota.

I don't see TV too much. Has anyone else seen this? Is this a new video for the song? The graphics made it appear very recent.

Jerry: I haven't seen the video in question, but the idea of having objects flying out the window reminds me of the 'Free As A Bird' video. I thought that one was very well done. I'm fairly sure the country house in question was probably Tittenhurst Park. John and Yoko sold the property (to Ringo?) before moving to NYC and shot a lot of film footage on the grounds.

No, it wasn't Tittenhurst. More a cottage, smallish. Looked like computer animation.
Beautiful video, cool to see two of his Ricks (well, the necks and headstocks) in it.

The video is included in the Lennon Legend DVD which has been out for some time.....but, yes, it's very nicely done!

David: Yet another reason to buy 'Lennon Legend'. By the way, your username is interesting. I've been interested in German military aviation (WWI and WWII) all my life. What's the story?

While trying to get a username for something or other years ago, I resorted to German words to find a name that wasn't already taken. Being a history buff — and knowing the language — it just sorta came to me......

David: I ran into the same thing when I tried to come up with a user name for Ebay. I had to resort to using the engine block number from a '62 Austin-Healey Sprite, 948CG, so that I could remember it!

Paul, thanks. That's a moving video.
I had missed the first bit where they run the quote about being 64 and living in Ireland.
