I was wondering about that one too. Sure looks maple to me.

My, that sure is a novel way to use the handrest.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

Perhaps one of the worst photos I have seen online in some time. Not a good ad for this bass. It is really not possible to tell what the neck is using this photo.

From looking at the listing again, there are some questions I have about this one. The hardware is black, yet the nut is white - does this not seem odd? That fretboard is definitely maple, both pictures have the same coloration as the body, and I have never seen a Ric fretboard that light before.

Did Ric ever do a maple fretboard on a 4003S?

It's a stripped Tuxedo or Redneck. Notice the black pindot inlays. Ask the seller to look under the pickguard and see if it's either red or white, this bass was sold on ebay not to long ago if memory serves me right.

This was probably a Redneck or Tuxedo bass. I think that the original finish has been stripped off and refinned in Natural. Why? Because the tiny black fretmarkers and Maple fretboard. John Hall?

I'm pretty sure it's a 4003S.

JWilli: I agree, these are microdot fret markers and the Redneck or Tuxedo is a reasonable guess.
