Check this out......

Pete seems to get a little tired of his 1993 about half way through and then seems to switch to another 1993? Every time I watch the clip, I want to find him and give him a slap!!

They were only black and white ones which were common in those days, everyone knows that the later colour ones were much better guitars!

I don't know Randy. All I remember was the house spinning, and holding on to Toto and when I opened the door everything was in colour (and the house had landed on the wicked witch!

I like The Who quite a bit, but always hated it when they smashed their gear up. I have too much respect for musicial instruments - Just makes me cringe.
I'm reminded of the story when George Harrison was studying sitar with Ravi Shankar. At one point, the phone rang, and George put down his sitar and stepped over it to get the phone - Ravi hit him and told him to respect the instrument.
My kind of guy...

People should not smash quality guitars up as many players would love to own a decent guitar!
However not playing them & hiding them away is just as much of a crime IMO, so what if they get a few scratches & dents /wear & tear?
That's what they are for, to play music with, & should not hidden away!
PS Anyway I can save this clip!

My neighbours say that I play the Hell out of mine, or is it that it is Hell listening to me play? I can never remember which!

I must be a bit thick. How is it art when you smash a beautiful instrument? I never did understand that premise. No one has been able to explain it in a manner that has helped me to understand either.
Like I said I must be a bit thick. But I am willing to try to understand assuming that I have the capacity.

I've broken a few instruments onstage in fits of passion.
It made people cringe when I threw my 60 Burst
across the stage.....
But I'm with Townshend on this when he said-
It's MY bloody guitar, and I'll do with it what I BLOODY
well please!
Funnily enough-
I beat one of my 381's into a stage; it went through the floor, but came through with nary a scratch!
But that was another me; an evil me.
And I killed him....

Going Off-Topic: Have you ever watched the scene in the movie 'Blow-Up' (1966) when Jeff Beck destroys his guitar? The Yardbirds were filmed miming 'Stroll On' which was a variation on 'Train Kept A-Rollin'. This is the short-lived line-up featuring Page and Beck. Beck is shown playing a big non-cutaway archtop. The guitar he smashes has a single florentine cutaway like a Gibson ES-175. Did you ever wonder why the 'stunt guitar' looks like that? It's because Tomorrow (featuring Steve Howe) was originally going to be the band in the movie. Howe played an ES-175, but was never known for trashing his guitars, so a fake was made by the props department.
I could've explained it, Brian, but i have to show respect towards all musicians, including those who smash their instruments against the wall... and i'm in sarcastic mood today, so i'd better not go into details...
The only thing i can say is that different people take the same things in a different way... for some, smashing the gear (especially when it's good quality & expensive) seems a cool thing to do. So to speak.
PS: a nice clip, though...
