If it is a 1982 it may be a 4003 ... is the pickguard 2 piece? if yes then it is a 4003 ... burgundyglo is less common than the basic fireglo, mapleglo, jetglo, colors ....

Welcome to the club, Karl. I have a 1980 Burgundyglo 4001. Yes, it is somewhat rare, I'm told.

After my '78 Fire-Glo 4001 was stolen back in '79, I went in search for another 4001. A drummer I went to school with tells me his little brother has a 4001 for sale since he never learned to play it anyway. So I go over to his house and from a hidden comartment in the wall he slides out this case. Inside was not a 4001 but a Burgandy-Glo 4000! I had never seen one and was totally disapointed because the price,$350.00, was lower than used 4001's around that time.To my way of thinking, since it wasn't a 4001, it was missing a pickup and half of it's electronics. Well I passed on it and ended up with another 4001 but in retrospect I wish I had bought it. It was pretty much unplayed and about 3 years old at the time. The ones that get away...I won't even start about the '65 4005 I had once....

Well, Dane, with all due respect, you certainly oughta know better than to pass on the BG 4000 and let the 4005 go. Not that I haven't made the same sort of mistake in the past myself, mind you.
