John,
The Fulltone is great. I think you'll be able to ditch the Boss. When I just have it on it is provides a nice dirty tone and when I turn on the boost it kicks into chainsaw mode....great for Motorhead. It covers every overdrive need I have and keeps the lowend sounding rich.

I use a Demeter Compulator for my compression needs and the Bass Drive to add dirt. The Fulltone does have a nice tone-evening effect to it that makes a compressor a little less necessary.

By the way I have a Ampeg SVP-Pro tube preamp/non-tube poweramp system. I run the preamp with my standard slightly overdriven tone and use the Fulldrive as needed. It blends seemlessly.

Can you get the motorhead "this is bass" tone? If you can than I can die happy.

+10,000,000 for the Fulltone. Best thing I've ever bought . . . other than my Rickenbacker. It can do pretty much everything other than super-ultra-monster-roaring distortion, but really, when are you gonna use that? So absolutely amazing . . .

I really never need more overdrive/distortion than the Fulltone can provide. It easily gets a "Lemmy quality" overdriven tone and could get even dirtier. Gives a great tone for Metallica's Anesthesia as well. It has great range from subtle to "Lemmy" and always sounds great!
