Gary: mmm... no it's not Paul Simon - i think i know what made you think so, and after i posted this puzzle, i suddenly realized he might also be an answer, but this "trick" was unintentional, i swear!
It could be you, but that was not my suggestion, in fact... as far as the old guy at the UPS shipping store is concerned, i know nothing about him!

I should've been clearer: that's an early 60s act.

Sorry Sheena, a failed attempt at humor I fear. The UPS fella helped me box up a bunch of guitars one day. Funny guy, used to be in the fight game as a youngster.

Well madam, I'm out. I was around for the 60's but wasn't paying attention. I hid under the bed as it appeared the world was going mad at the time.

I think it's cool to hear from your side of the world. Your thoughtful and gentle posts fly in the face of the stereotyped "Russian", cold and menacing, that was sold to "us" during the cold war years. Even if I had the smarts to tackle the Russian language, I don't know if I would have the courage to venture forth into the culture and print as you have. Well done.

Well, still can't think of who the mystery guest is. I did not listen to music until the Beatles hit. Sure it's not the UPS guy?

Okay, more hints: a guy from UK, a one-hit wonder, really was a boxer once... "lonely" and "good guy" refer to his one and only hit...

Basically he was Sheena in terms of Top 20 records. I see where you get your reference but his own website and the bit about posted about him makes no reference to that fact, though he could certainly handle himself as we say here in North Of England.

AMG is a great reference source but like all of us gets it wrong at times, the entry about a certain band member of a UK sixties act had him listed as deceased, poor bloke will get a shock if he reads it.

Well, in this case, as we say, he'll live long and happily for many, many years... I've heard the same "rumours" about Mark Knopfler several times...
In any case, i agree about AMG - certainly there's some incorrect information there, but it was the best source i could refer to before this forum section appeared...
