71-72 4001 on Ebay.Is this the real deal?

I've seen em fairly orange from 72; if the colour is
throwing people...

It has the missing tooth TP as well....

Loose the guard for sure. The TP looks to be the older type and the treble pickup is apparently a tranny with an aluminum base plate. The binding is quite wide so it probably CB. Is it the real deal? Only the Shadow knows.....

It's a '73. I e-mailed him and he said the jackplate says MC 1009. Definitely has potential.............

I have an MC with short inlays...Go figure....

This will probably have inlays like Jon Casselman's BG bass.

Andrew, i've yet to see a March 73 with short inlays.

If this bass is a March 73 then it should have the same inlays as my April 73 pictured here.

So they did do full-width poured inlays back then. Yours have very nice swirling.

I can reconfirm everyone's fine detective work.....my March '73 4001 is MC1001 (eight guitars away from the one on eBay). It has full width poured inlays.

Yes, I have never seen a March 73 with smaller inlays either. There may be a reason or at sometime the jackplate was changed.

The bass has the C/B and toaster though....

That fireglo just looks wrong to me, it's too old to be that "edgy", don't they blend more as they amber? Look at Darren's and then the one on Ebay and you'll see what I mean.

Here's a closer photo of the body of my March '73 4001 for Fireglo comparison....split bridge, full width inlays, checkerboard binding, toaster, half inch spacing on pickguard.....
