You Favorite Bass Gear (other than basses)

Post by rickenbrother »

Other than your Rickenbacker basses or any other bass guitars, what bass related gear keeps you smiling use after use?
For me:
Avatar Neo B212: After several gigs, I can't say enough great things about this cabinet, between it's price, sound and weight/portability, it is outstanding.
SWR SM400 amp: Going on 17 years of reliable excellent sound at gigs and in the studio.
Tech 21 Sansamp Bass DI: Truly the ONLY pedal that didn't quickly leave me scratching my head, wondering why I wasted my money on it. If it ******* out on me or was lost, I'd immediately buy a new one.

I'm still smiling about the switch from 2x10 to 4x10 with aluminum cones.

My Ampeg / Pod combo is making me smile. The tone with my V63's inspires me when gigging.

I do wonder what swapping out the 2X10 to a 4X10 would do for me.

I'd have to go with my Ampeg combo. I could immediately tell the difference when I plugged in between that and the Peavey combo I was playing before. Adds much more character and warmth to the sound.

Massive air!

I can't use 15's in my situation. And now, that I've been using 10's so long, even 12's sound "flappy". The extra 2 speakers make all the difference. I know a few on thus forum who have 2, 2x10 cabs for versatility but I don't have to move mine so the 4x10 is fine. There are even some lightweight 4x10 cabs around.

I am also fond of the Ampeg B2 head. I haven't even broke out my Bass POd XT Live yet as I am still drooling over the b2 4x10 sound!

Apart from my '04 Monty Brown Rick. Hartke 3500 4x12 combo. Lovely amp when the valve preamp is cranked to 7 or above, growl city. Also my indispensible 3 band parametric equalizer. THE secret for any bass player having trouble getting a good sound. I've tried every pedal and preamp that is available, the parametric solved all my problems. Try 2, one for each pickup via rick-o-sound. Overkill, but choose what sound you want, the amp is just for volume... HAha!
What d'ya mean... the bass is TOO loud!

My Ashdown MAG300C 1x15 combo. FINALLY, enough watts (307) and small/light enough to carry into the gig one-handed! Also, my Tascam Bass Trainer II. Keeps me busy and practiced all week long.

I don't think I even need to say...

...but in addition, the Taurus pedals are hard to step on without grinning...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

D'Addario XL-170 nickle roundwound strings.

I've used them for 20 some years, and honestly have never had a bad string.

My Basson 4 x 10 cab, except when I have to move it. It sounds killer but weighs 150 lbs.

Mesa Boogie Bass 400 through an Eden 210T

I can pretty much duplicate the tones from early Tool with this, and my trusty 4003

BTW... did Paul stick a Hi-Gain in the bridge and neck positions of his 4001CS? It looks that way.
