Greatest pop singers of all time
Paul: I haven't watched it in a few years, but any film featuring The Mindbenders is alright by me.
Roy: I've only recently started listening to a number of British 'girl singers' like Lulu, Cilla Black, Julie Grant, and Glenda Collins. I really enjoy hearing their music in digitally remastered format. Lots of great singing and arranging. Some of them worked with great producers.

Lulu was married to Barry Gibb at one point wasn't she Roy?
Has anyone mentioned Cilla Black yet? She was a great singer from the 60's. Also Paul Jones (Manfred Mann) should perhaps get honorable mention.

Oops I was writing and Randy was posting. So Cilla got mentioned three times now. Too funny.

Aaaah Kathy Kirby... Sorry drifted off there for a moment.
OK it was Maurice not Barry. Lulu was produced by Mickie Most wasn't she?

Whew, this is a lot of bizarre information to process...let me see if I have it all straight:
Joe Meek was gay...Maurice Gibb was married to some guy named Brian Lulu...and Mickie Most couldn't sell Lulu (the female singer, not the guy who married M. Gibb) on The Yardbirds...
Jeez, you'd think she woulda been more into those guys...

I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

Lulu was married to Maurice Gibb!!!???
How did I not know that?
Judy Geeson was my favorite from TSwL. She shows up every now and then in the States (and played the wife in Danger: UXB). Still not bad.
Anyway back to topic...
Paul, agree Warmth of the Sun is a GREAT record. But my favorite BB ballad is In My Room.
Not sure exactly how we're defining "pop singers" here but my favorite singers (off the top of my head):
FEMALE
Janis Joplin
Dusty Springfield
Linda Ronstadt
MALE
Beach Boys (together)
Everly Brothers (together)
Art Garfunkel
Otis Redding
Marty Balin
Just like at the Oscars, I'm sure I will be driving home tonight and think "Doh! How could I have forgotten . . . "
