I agree with Jeff.
Thanks for the pictures. Your bass looks like a color reverse of my jetglo baby. What year is yours? (Mine is Aug 2001).

Beautiful bass in very good condition, Owen.
It's the whitest white 4001/4003 I've ever seen.
What do you do to prevent it from yellowing like most white RIC basses?

I had a white 4003S/8 for 8 years that was as white when I sold it as it was new. There was no yellowing whatsoever. The only thing I did was that when I wasn't actually playing it, it was in the case at all times.

I couldn't agree more. This rivals the "Man from Glad" and the 10 foot high snow banks outside my house.

Nice one! Image

Peter, I can't remember how to post a pic hosted on the web and the instructions are confusing. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

My bass is a 91'. About the whiteness, sorry to dissapoint, but thats the flash on the cameraImage

Its pretty damn cream in reality, like the colour of white chocolate, still, its not exactly yellow.

I have only had it for about 3 months, saw it in a central london shop (yep im from the UK) and i had to have it. i didnt know this combination of white w/black parts existed! The shop staff were crazy over selling it. One guy admitted he had sneaked it out the night before for a band rehearsal. It had only been there for 2 days before i got it. Lucky of what!

Just thought i would add, that i am only 18, and appear to be the only bassist on the london gig scene with a Rick Bass. Im not joking, nobody has a rickenbacker bass or guitar of any sort. I play in a three piece, and my band mate plays a Midnight Blue 330, coincidentaly of the same year as my 4003 ('91). Unfortunatly this 330 is not really his, its a loan, but the Rickenbackers really grab peoples attention, the most Rock 'n' Roll guitar make ever.

And the sound of my bass. Its the loudest, crunchiest thing you ever heard.

Thanks, Peter. So it has to be under 20k even if hosted on the web if I want it to show up without clicking a link?

Brad: Your options are to link to it from the Forum or to upload it to the Forum. The 20k limit applies to the latter.

Owen,
That white 4003 is sweet! I always thought white was one of the best colors for a 4001/4003. I'm not sure if RIC still makes them in that color or not. If they don't, it's a shame. They really look cool!
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again
