Rickenbacker on TV

Post by bbobb24 »

Hi all, I've read quite a bit that Rickenbacker guitars are usually favored by us "older" folks. Well the other night I was watching tv with my kids, 7 and 8 years old. We were watching a show on teen nick called Drake and Josh, accually a pretty funny show. Anyway, Drake is a musician, and in the beginning of the show he sitting there talking whild holding, and playing, a Ric 350v63 in jetglo. It was only maybe a 30 second spot, but it was really cool to see him playing something other than an LP.

Just thought I'd share.

He's got this whacked-out thing built by the guys at Modern Props, that's got a plexiglas front and a laser light show supposedly built in. But I think it's CGI.

My daughter (8) is a big Drake and Josh fan and she ran into the room very excited that Drake had a Rick. She can spot one a mile away...

Bob, I saw the same thing. Actually my 8 year old called me in and replayed it from the TIVO. He spotted it first. Nice guitar, but the show drives me crazy!

Yeah, my daughter also likes the Drake&Josh show and I also remember seeing that Ric.
For those a little older, this month's Washingtonian magazine included in its "best looking" issue (don't ask) a local musician and his 360:

>>>a local musician and his 360

Looks more like a professional model and a brand new prop that he was told to hold. (and yes... the 360 is the better looking of the two)

That picture is honestly the first time Mid Blue has been attractive to me. I have never seen it in person though.

Mid blue is a lovely colour John, really great under stage lighting. I had a mid blue 330-12 & everything was great about it....except it wasn't fireglo! Sad really, but the ONLY gtr that I have, or ever had, that seems to be holding out against the fireglo pull (fetish), is my 381-12MG.
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

Saw Matt Mays & El Torpedo on the Canadian East Coast Music Awards Feb 27, play Cocain Cowgirl to close the show. Ric 360/6 FG very prominent and very cool.
