My Rick Dealer Makes The Paper

Post by firstbassman »

Chuck Levin’s Music Center, an institution in the DC area, made the Washington Post today with a large article in the Style section.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/27/AR2006022701623_pf.html

[You will probably have to “register” before seeing the article. Apologies.]

I had no idea that:

1. Paul Reed Smith once worked as a repairman there.

2. The place sells (mail order I guess) to New York and Los Angeles and that Chuck’s sells “more instruments than any other single music store in America.”

...by modern standards it's still a pawnshop gone horribly awry...
Funny!
Listen to that sustain!

That place is the best kept secret in the USA. I've been buying stuff there for years. Brian Meader is a great guy to deal with.

Alan, agree, that's a great quote.
And if you ever saw the place you'd understand.

Scott, yes, Brian is a great guy. He had the patience of a saint when I was selecting my bass amp.
My Rics were sold to me, though, by Paul Schein (quoted in the article).

Paul sold me a 660-12, and I also bought two 360-12CWs there. As the article describes, it can be a madhouse... but it's a wonderful place to buy guitars.
