Sure, I wrote him a long letter explaining what he has, and offered to pay him $2,300. But he insisted, $750 OBO. So that was that. He must have known that I'd have more expenses, like a Don Adamek replica pickguard, not to mention one missing thumb-screw for the mute assembly.

Oh my that is beautiful. I'm seeing models of Rick basses on this forum that I didn't know existed.

Alan, you'll probably see more. There's always something interesting going on. For the uninitiated, Rick basses seem pretty run of the mill: black ones, blonde ones, red (Fireglo) ones. But it goes way deeper. To get an idea (and to see some lovely examples), go the originator of this Forum, Rickresource.com and click on "The Rickenbacker Registration Page," click on articles on the left, then from the menu on the left, click "Articles," then scroll down to "Bass Models." (There are two parts.) The info there is a bit out of date, and there are some mistakes, but it's a great start for a budding collector.

And in a year or two, be sure to buy my book, "Rickenbacker Basses: 50 Years as Rock's Bottom."
