A touch of gold.....

Post by eatswodo »

I've been inspired by the pictures here of gold guards on a variety of Rickenbackers. I've never really cared for the chrome pickguard on my 650D, so I decided to be very brave and make a change.

Thanks to Tony at Pickguardian, my 650D now looks like this:

I rather like it....

Very nice. I wonder how it would look with chrome knobs?

Looks like a million bucks! Nice choice.
The vintage style brown & gold chicken head knobs would look good on it.

"I wonder how it would look with chrome knobs?" Like this.

David, you may want to consider giving the TRC the gold treatment also. Kevin Kuney knows the matching color to the pickgaurd.

Here is my 4001V63 w/gold. A few small things have to be changed, but you get the idea.

Well I guess not. Even though the attachment is below 36kb it still won't load. POS

Anyway close your eyes and use your imagination. Looks cool huh?

I'll try it with the chrome knobs - but right now, I'm quite taken with the black.

Your guitar was a large part of my inspiration, Ken. I'd love to do the TRC like yours - I found Kevin's post with the paint information, but I'm not sure I'm up to the task. Paint and I have never got along very well...

I think the gold would look better on the sierra, but is still quite nice.

David, you can exchange your existing TRC with RIC for a gold one with black lettering--that's what I did when Paul put the gold guards on my purpleburst 330. He waited for the TRC to get to him, and then he made the guards to match the gold shade exactly.

I can't remember if it cost $20 or $25 to do the exchange, but it was in that area....

Here here!!!

I did the same to my MB 650C. (Gold guard & TRC)

I like the idea of the vintage knobs. I may have to try that. Right now I still have my chrome knobs on there. It's nice to be able to see what it looks like with the vintage knobs.

I have this Montezuma Brown 650C with "A Touch of Gold" listed in the "Rickenbackers For Sale" section, if anyone is interested.

I can't believe that hasn't sold, Kevin - surely someone here can give it a good home?
