Well, thanks for your opinion there, Brian. As a matter of fact, I do like the occasional power chord, as well as rudimentary rhythms and shouted vocals from time to time. As for minimal talent, I notice you didn't mention lyrics, which young Alex Turner is quite adept at; I daresay he outdoes your precious Gallagher Bros. on that front by a wide margin.

Ah, but now I'm playing into your hands...it seems to me that slagging off one rock band in favor of another is beyond silly. If it hits you in the solar plexus, it's doing its job--otherwise, why not listen to Rachmaninov, or Kenny G?

But what do I know, I'm just one of those who don't "know anything about music at all."

Have a nice day pal.

I'm with Brian... they don't kick my ***! More like break my teeth from gnashing! I don't hear much of musical value in the clip but then again, what do I know? I know what I like and that ain't it!

You're middle name isn't Ken, by any chance is it Patrick?

Hey guys... (Aitch?!)
Some people like certain styles in music, some don't - just not their "cup of tea".
Just a question of tastes... IMHO...

Most new bands have that been there, done that flavor to me. So transparent as to what they're aiming at sound and image wise. I demand non-boring bands! But, I fear rock really is dead, sent to the recycling heap.

It's tough to be truly original after 40 odd (some very odd) years. They still have time to learn & grow.

I like Rachmaninoff!

Me too, Kevin! In fact he's one of my absolute favourite composers. Image

I like Beethoven as well. Back on topic. I did say that would be willing to give them a listen when they mature as musicians. God only knows why, but most of us do eventually.

Well, they just appeared on SNL, did the song posted here first, the second song had clean guitar parts for the majority of it. Not bad, really, though there was a bout of Tele smashing at the end.
Bright side: bass player was using a Burgundy 3000, I think. Single pup, large white pickguard.
Looked like an SVT behind him, but sounded kind of ratty, I thought.
They should definitely improve as a band, should they stick with it. Interesting writing & sense of structure. Worth keeping an eye on.

I think it was a 3001, just missing one knob. I'm betting that he's a Mani fan.

It looked the same as the 3000 that Bob Atherton has posted for sale in the bass section.

Well, I was at a party & came home just in time to see the last half of the song. I had tipped a few pints, so I could always be wrong. 3000's & 3001's look so similar. Did it have the little dip in the pickguard? That's always the dead giveaway to tell the difference between the two.

All I know is it looked just like Bob's. Now I'm wondering. I've never been clear about the 3000 series.
It was a single pup, single volume & tone control in either Burg or Ruby. I don't think it was FG.
No binding.

The clincher is the 3000 is short scale, slight dip in the pickguard & 2 knobs with the input jack on the front of the bass.
3001 is full scale, 3 control knobs & input jack on the bottom of the bass. Like I said, I was drinkin' but I thought the guy last night was just missing a knob...

Anyway, here's a shot of my 1978 3001:

It somehow eluded me that the 3000s were short scale - now I must have one! I feel as if I'm about to launch a shotput when play a standard scale bass. That's why my Dano Longhorn is well-loved in this house.

I'm digging the finish on your Ric, Chris.
