Apparently I can't leave anytjhing alone........

Post by incubus2432 »

When I received my TransGreen 4004Cii I immediately swapped the gold hardware for chrome but, although I liked it better than gold, I still wasn't happy. So I picked up another set of black goodies and I am quite pleased with the look.

My only remaining dilemma is what to do with the gold jack plate. A light scuffing and some semi-gloss black should do the trick but I don't want to obscure the serial number at all. I just hate seeing the one out of place gold piece.

So what's the opinion on this project....yea or nay?

I just noticed my brilliant spelling of "anytjhing" in the title. I'm such a tool and I wish there was a way to edit the titles. My IQ and typing skills are out there for all to see.....

Why don't you just make/get one made? Heavy sheet metal, curved into the proper shape, drilled, & preferably powder coated black.
That way you still retain the original should you wish to sell.

I think another forum member put black trim on a trans red 4004CII ... but that looks good ... black trim looks good on almost all finishes ... fireglo looks better with white ...

Hey I have 6 years of college and I make dumb typos also ...

so the bass is a 9.5 and your spelling is a 2 ...

Brian, that's real sharp. And I agree, almost any small local machine shop could make you a black one, or a paintable one cheap. I have one in my neighborhood that does small jobs like that for me, and literally, with tax, under $4!

Hmmmm.....I hadn't thought about making my own. Great idea! It is well within my limited fabrication skills and I even have a metal stamp kit to put the serial number on the new one. The hard part will be the countersunk portion.

Do you have a before photo? I'm a fan of the gold hardware so I was just curious what it looked like.

I like the gold hardware with the transgreen finish. I like silver/chrome with blue and blue burst and gold with trans red. I like the "none more black" project.

But I just can't get into the black trim on the transgreen in this case...

I have on order a 4004Cii in blueburst and have requested to remove the gold and replace with chrome. My initial plan was to go with black, hence my previous post seeking black hardware. I'll see how it looks in person but my heart is still set on black.
Brian, the black and green combo is gorgeous. I still can't get into the gold hardware look. In the words of Chris at POTR, "It's too hoochie"
