Union Jack 330
There's a picture of a Ric 330 with the Union Jack on the front on Ed Roman's web site (google: "Union Jack Rickenbacker"). Does anyone know whether Ric will do this paint job for any dealer or is it a special order only available from Ed Roman?

I'm about to do one of these for a Forum member (anyone know of a 330/12 or 340/12 for sale, possibly with finish issues?).
Ed's UJ is based upon a Midnight Blue 300. NOT the way to go, as MB is pearlescent, and for best results one should start out with either an AZ 330 (yeah-right--who would be THAT nutz?) or a stripped guitar. The colors would be white, bright red (BMW Henna Red) and Azureglo, applied in that order with LOTS of careful masking. Note that these are all non-metallic or pearlescent colors!
My price for doing these is quite reasonable, BTW, compared to Ed.

Paul, i was going to post a question in your area but you were away and I figured i'd wait, but this is on topic. Are you also capeable of doing graphic finishes? For instance, say I wanted a paint job like Clapton's old "Fool" SG, or like Paul Weller's "WHAAM' 330 (See below), would this be within your means?

Most definitely. But I will not do one without EXCELLENT source photographs. Pricing is per each individual job...
Both of these would be interesting challenges.

Didn't I see a Union Jack 4003 somewhere on the Forum? Was it Jeff Rath that had one?

I get your meaning.
There are lots of people who will repaint a Rick for whatever reason, but if it ain't done right, it's the first step on the road to becoming a cheap fixer-upper on eBay.
Sorry if I sound preachy...
Were Ed's Greenglos done by him or by RIC? They seemed to be a factory-equivalent finish. If they were done by his finish guy, you'd think that the same fellow would do an equally-nice job on the UJ.

Got you. Thanks, Jwilli. I did get the impression that he had done the paint job. Was the UJ you had supposedly painted by Ed's guy or by the owner himself?
Sorry for the 20 questions...

I'm curious too. I talked to someone at Ed's shop yesterday and they said they offer the Union Jack paint job as a separate service. The price is $1000.00. Funny, the guy I talked to didn't hesitate for a second when I asked how much, as if someone calls every other day asking about this. Perhaps that's just the standard price for a custom paint job.
In any event, Paul - I'm interested, though I have to find a used 330 first.
