I just thought I'd comment on this...
Rickenbacker seems to be the only guitar maker that doesn't attempt to cash in on every dumb anniversary. I mean, we've all heard the rumors of an anniversary model, but it's nothing compared with Fender or Gibson. Fender has been doing an anniversary model every few years. Just a couple years ago they did the 50th Strat Anniversary, and now they're doing the 60th Company Anniversary...and Gibson has done their shares of anniversary models. It just seems like RIC is more focused on quality and the actual instruments (what a thought!) then jumping on a stupid date to cash in.
What do you all think?
Something else I like about Rickenbacker.

They don't really have a need to try & promote a gimmicky thing to boost sales. There is a backlog of orders!
Everything that they will make for the foreseeable future will be sold long before it's finished.
There really is no sense in making the backlog bigger when they're really trying to get it down to a reasonable length of time.

Plus five minus five!

I'd say the most gimmicky sales thing RIC has done since JH has been in charge has been the Signature models, and they were done in such a tasteful way that they werent gimmicky at all.
Fender does their anniversary and the Strat's anniversary, so that we have one every few years. Not sure about Teles, though they certainly deserve their due.

I don't know. I think an anniversary model of some kind would have been cool. 75 Years in business is a big deal and worthy of recognition.

Martin does more signature models than anyone. Although someone may be an awesome musician, I kinda feel like they need to be an old schooler to have a signature. John Mayer and Babyface have signature Martins. I really have to see a date on a guitar like the Takamines Whale guitar ect...just do the whale, not the date.
