The best way to ship my '77 4001

Post by anoukane »

Hi guys,
I'm going to ship my '77 4001 to France tomorrow. It will probably take a three days before it gets there.
Question: Should I take the strings off or just keep them tuned in EADG? Or doesn't it make any difference anyway?
Thanks!

Keep it tuned to pitch (JH told me this).

Depends. Do you play in EADG?

nope ... the best way is to ship it to Horseshoe Circle in Canton Michigan (my home) ...

seriously ... I usually ship in tune ... and if they ask to have it shipped detuned then I ship it tuned e flat ...

I just usually ship with the strings on and tuned as is. If the buyer wants it different, they'll take care of it when they get it.

I remember John Hall saying to ship in tune to keep the proper tension on the neck.

I love old 70s 4001 basses ... I just prefer the new ones ... and I get annoyed when I see a 70s Ric on ebay with a price of $2500 ...

I do to Jeff, but just about everything gives me sticker shock now. I must be getting old!
