Wanted

Post by misterb »

Hello all,
I've been looking to buy a pre-1973 Jet-glo 4001 with checkerboard binding and toaster pickup. If anyone on the forum knows of one that might be for sale, please let me know. I saw one in a pawn shop when I was 12 and didn't have the money (it was $250 then). Now, 30 years later, I have the money but can't find the bass! Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome Bob. If the instrument is out there, sooner or later you will hear about it from the bass enthusiasts on this Forum.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Oooh look at that! Gorgeous! If that had a maple neck too, it would be X rated.

Well, Bob, not many months back there was a '73 Jetglo 4001 'with all the goodies' in Gbase.
www.gbase.com
This was a so-called 'vintage mint' instrument. I have a shot of it somewhere. I'll e-mail it to you if I can find it. I remember the asking price therefor to be on the high side - approx. three grand. The condition of this 4001 was simply astounding. It's gone now, but keep checking Gbase for pre-73 4001 basses - they do crop up every now and then. Good luck with your search.

Allow me to be more specific: said 4001 was an early 1973 one. It came with all the 'goodies' except for the finger grip which had been discontinued by then. Stay in tune - as soon as I'll find the picture of it I'll e-mail it to you. I can't post it in here 'cause it's a tad too large.
