Bob, I know someone who is very interested!

Now if it was a 3001 I'd be all over it!

The good news is that the money will go towards a 1974 Jetglo 4001. I haven't found 'the one' yet. My old band MANTISS is getting together for the first time since 1976 this summer and a '74 JG is what I played back then. Just hope I can get one sorted by June.

How are these to play? I have never seen one in person and I'm not sure if I have ever heard one. What kind of noise does it make?

Listen to any Primal Scream tracks.

Mani uses a 3000/1 - he's an average player, nontheless you can hear it.

The Posies "Frosting On The Beater" features Dave Fox playing a 3001 (identical to mine!) on the entire LP.
GREAT record too!

I don’t actually know how the bass sounds in the context of my band. The best thing is to listen to any of Zutons music, I believe that Mani is exclusively playing his 3000 on the albums.

For me the bass has had an unusual but important role. It has spent it’s time in my possession under my bed! This is because it has been the bass that I work out new bass lines on. For whatever reason it is the best of all my RICs at playing acoustically ( I don’t own a 4005) it has a more clear & precise tone than my 4001’s when played acoustically. When the muse hits me, and that can often be in the night, the bass is removed from under said bed and I twang away!

When it has gone through an amp I would say the sound of it sat about half way between a 4001 and a Fender P.

Mani played in the Stone Roses (think he mainly used a 4005 but have seen him in some pix with a 3000 and later a P-bass) and in Primal Scream (where he uses the 3000).

Whenever I have seen the Zutons their bassist has used a J-Bass through an Ashdown.

Mani never used 3000/1s in any studio Stone Roses tracks.

Entirely his wallpapered 4005.

Not too sure on when he used it. Certainly seen pix of him back stage (and Ian Brown with it, think he started on bass) in a Roses book.
