I believe that there's still one at Billy's Bass Place...
http://www.promusicfind.net/cgi-bin/texis/scripts/promusicfind/vend_search.html?tbl=I&vcode=BBIL
Look under Rickenbacker....here's the description...Used; BASS; RICKENBACKER; 4001; 1973; EXCELLENT PLUS ; JETGLO RIC 4001--CHECKERED BINDING--GROVER TUNERS--TREBLE PICK UP REP0LACED WITH RE-ISSUE HORSE PICK UP-ORIGINAL IN CASE--BLACK TOLEX CASE; Call For Price;
As you can see...you have to call for a price so it's probably pretty expensive and he has had it for at least 3 years that I know of...still, it is what you've been looking for and I did do a deal for a fender case with Billy once...he seemed like a nice guy and he's here in Atlanta if you get serious about a deal I could check out the bass for you.....good luck and ps. I'm not affiliated with Billy in any way except that I met him once...dm

I wish those guys would post some pictures of the items they carry...
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

Thanks for all the help so far, and Dave P., your sweetheart is exactly what I'm looking for, but not for 5K. I'm still hoping for a great deal at around half that amount. And thanks to Dave M. for the Billy's lead. I've already called and been told to call back later.

Bob, the deals are out there. You have to keep looking.
A dead mint one will top out at $3500.00
I just picked up a nice 72 fireglo tonight. This one needs some work however.

I love the way you post that so matter-of-factly. If I did that, it would be in bold print with about 100 exclamation points after it

And to think that I have a May 1973 Jetglo 4001 with all the goodies on it, but I don't want to give it up.
If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.

Thanks, Bob. I probably couldn't sell it anyway since I'd probably take a loss on it due to what I paid for it.

I want a 1960s Jetglo 4001S.
I'd take a V63 in Jetglo also, but I'd go with another 4003S or a C64 if I had to choose.

Do you mean a Jetglo C64, Mark?

No, Jetglo V63.
They are around. Sheena has one, Ted has one.
I'd favour another JG 4003S over a JG C64, which I'd favour over a V63.
In short: I want more black Special 4000-series. Gimme Gimme Gimme.

Ted, do you have a jetglo V63? Will you bring it to Milwaukee in April? This is #1 on my short list.
No matter where you go - there you are.

Well I have a Jetglo 4001C64S that could be made available. It's only been out of the house once and still all original.
