Maybe he is going to take it to a place that will pack it up for you, but even then I doubt if it would cost that much.
IMHO that is not reasonable. I know that you are looking for a 360 JG but they are one of the most common model/color combinations for a Ric.
If you pass on this one another one will be along soon.

I took a look at the one on ebay last night, then I saw the shipping price and didn't want to pull. I shipped a Vox AC15 last year for under 50 bucks, and that was packed to the gills with materials.
I'm not an uber R.E.M fan, but I do like the stuff they put out up through Green.
As far as the other rick models...I'm sure I'll be adding more...was sitting there thinking about it at work...I like the vibe and mystique of these guitars. Don't see them around too much here and you definately know when you hear one.
Just need to keep my eyes open.

Hi Sean - a guitar shop in Portland, OR has a 2002 (I believe) 360JG with toasters, which are evidently stock, for $1150. It is otherwise a newer 360JG.
I asked about the taosters, and they indicated it is a limited edition, but I think it is either after-market, or a special order. Any ideas from other members?
I do not work for this store, and I am not sure if it is proper to name retail outlets in the forum. Email me at [email protected], and I can give you their contact info, if you are interested.

Oh, OK. The 360JG is located at Trade-Up Music in Portland. The phone number is 503-236-8800. They are good people; I had them rewire my '68 366/12, and they did a great job.
$1150 seems just a bit high to me, but with the toasters on it, it is probably worth it. It is in excellent condition, and I believe it comes with HSC.

Yeah, but you don't need toasters on that one. How much is new one now, with hi-gains ? That's what I'd do, I'd order one online, you can't go wrong that way, you can even return it if you don't like it. Can't beat MF at what they do.

Steve, the used/new Rickenbacker dealer you are thinking of might be Mike Parks (The Rickenbacker Page):

The list price for a new 360 with high-gains is $1659; with a good dealer discount, it would be about $1080.
