it is not a boost ... that requires active electronics ... it is a bass cut capaciter ...

Yes, I understand that. It's the cap that was in the old 4001s? I just didn't realize it was in this bass.

Was speaking to a guitarist I work with tonight who also happens to be an excellent tech. He told me if you move that cap from the tone pot to the volume pot, the cap will be bipassed when the volume is up all the way, but as you roll it off it will slowly kick in, cutting the bass. Sounds like an easy way to have your cake and eat it too.

I have recently bought a C64 and a V63. Compared them both tonight at a rehearsal. For most tunes I prefer no cap. I'm going to have to sell one of the instruments now. It's a tough decision, but either way will be fine as they are both awesome.

Hmmmm . . . would you mind informing me if/when you plan to sell the V63 (assuming you wouldn't be selling the C64) . . . I'd be quite interested, though I'd have to save up a bit of money . . . summer jobs!
