I still don't think it's just the movement of the neck. The Fireglo 4003 has an extra little curved bump down at the lower left, whereas the 4001S doesn't. Like, horns are pretty much the same size, even though they are less pointy, but the curve on that side of the body is actually shallower.

It's been shaven. It's been shaven. It's been shaven.

I'll bet you 10,000 Ashlee Simpson singles it's shaven.

Mmmm...10,000 Ashley Simpson singles would be worth what? Image
Regarding the SD in my 4000, that's an old pic, and it's in my 4001 with the other SD pup now & the original pup is back where she belongs. And in my defence, I didn't know any better when I bought them & the bass essentially had no pups when I got it.
I do have an original '77 neck pup that needs to be rewound. It has output, but it's extremely low.

If your pickup needs to be rewound, who you're gonna call? (hint, hint)
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

I charge nothing. Feel free to have me rewind your defective '77 bass pickup.
