Personally I've never experienced a "dead spot" on any bass...some rooms/amps I might have "bright spots", but I don't think it's instrument specific...

Well, at least I've experienced different "bright spots" on the same bass in different environments.

I've seen dead spots on various instruments, in fact my Jazz fretless has a dead note or two on the G string.

Erik's on it....good luck! Image

The price is at the point where I'd just spend a few hundred more to get a new one. And it will probably go higher before it is over.

Ahhhhhh.......Brian? I'll take the middle left one please!!!!!!!!!!

I got a nice black 1998 Lincoln Mk 8. I'll drive it there and walk home. I'll throw in a nice cleaning lady, (Mom), as well. Ya gotta watch her on Fridays and St. Patricks day. She dips into the Seagrams, she is Irish you know.
I'm just happy to be here.

I opted as did Brian with the notion that a new one is only a few hundred more. I placed my max and let it sit at that. I didn't even use my sniper.

...."there will always be another, there will always be another"....

I keep telling myself that, but for some reason, it doesn't always work....Image

Tony, if you ever see a 4004Ci for that price you better pounce on it! I paid $1200 (shipped) for mine last summer and the last nice one I saw sold for around $1500 in the fall.

That's a good deal that Erik got on the FireGlo Laredo and I would normally certainly pay that amount. I recently purchased my TransGreen Cii and my blackened Laredo so all of my actual needs are taken care of. The FireGlo would have been a nice addition but only if I could have bought it at around $900 with shipping (slim chance). I was thinking of stringing it as a piccolo bass if I scored it. Image

Hey Brian,

Yes, I remember seeing the 4004ci going for $1500.00. It was strange, two were listed very close together if I remember correctly. I know they are going up in value very quickly. I have/had a lead on one for $1200.00 but it just didn't work out. If you would like the location of the store, let me know & I'll e-mail it to you. As of two weeks ago, it was still there! Too many questions about it's condition just weren't being answered by the store, you might have better luck than I did.

As for the 4004L, agreed, it was indeed a good price and I'm glad a fellow forum mate nabbed it. I have my eye on a new 4004 Cii for $1100.00 so it hampered my decision of $900.00 plus the shipping for a used bass. Besides, I'm very happy Erik won it, he obviously wanted it more than I did.

I'm going to take my time on this one (which, by the way my wife will be very happy about that)and keep an eye out for a really nice 4004Ci.

That's ok Tony....I'm not really on the hunt for one at the moment (too many recent purchases and a hefty tax bill on the horizon)...thanks anyway.

BTW......if it is the one from Mike's Music I know the story behind it.

Sorry for stepping on your toes Tony, but it seems you've got something else lined up. I've wanted a maple neck Laredo for a while now. Now I have to decide what to get rid of (probably won't be a Ric though).
