That bridge is what makes the 380L, IMO. It gives the guitar a different profile than a regular Ric hollow-body. John, I know you've played a 650 and liked it. Imagine a Ric hollow-body playing the same way. Once you've played one, you really don't care about the relatively sparse appearance. I'm actually in the process of switching out the knobs and tuner heads for ones made of walnut. I'm trying to make it look as minimal as possible. I'll also be swapping for a gold TRC, which I do think looks better. Aside from that, I wouldn't change a single thing. It's a great guitar.
I don't think the 380L is being re-worked. I think it's done on account of ABM piezo bridges becoming harder to come by. And a lack of sales, too.

I love my 360-12 RCA-SPC. Bought it from BobKat last year. I personally think it's one of the most beautiful of all Rics. Some folks here will regard this as heresy, but I swapped out the humbuckers for toasters (I kept the humbuckers), and it sounds sensational.
There is no difference in neck width from standard 360-12s. BTW, I test every JangleBox on the 360-12 RCA before shipping.

Yeah, it really screams when you want it to, and you can bend like mad if that's your thing. (I'm not very good at lead playing, so it's kind of wasted on me.) If only it had been available with a vibrato, I could really give in to my worst solo excesses.
Never thought about a pick-guard for it. Hmmm. I wonder what that would look like? Think I might do some sketching later today.
