Everybody have their own opinion, and even if people disagree on something, my point is that there's no use in going any further.
I'm with Rob. It's better to forget, in order not to start yet another fight. Because the result of the battle is most often bad wounds, not the victory.

Okay. My point as it comes to posting in general...
Sometimes i come across the comments i've posted a while ago and feel ashamed for what i said. An afterthought, so to speak: i realize i might have hurt the others. At those moments, i wish they disappeared. But then again, let them stay, as the reminders for myself that i should be responsible for my words. It's easy to erase something and pretend you've never written (or said) that. It's much more difficult to accept you were wrong, or said something really bad. Even painful sometimes.
I'm speaking for myself.

My intention was not to hurt or attack any Forum member, least of all Peter Levett, with whom I have enjoyed trading quips and observations on numerous occasions.

Peter L., I apologize if my words cut too deeply of felt like an attack. I was incensed at issues, not people; least of all you, who probably had no idea when you initiated the thread, that it would end up like it did.

I recall being really personally attacked in one of my first longish opinion posts on this Forum, and that attack was in no uncertain terms, directed at me personally. I was shocked but weathered the undeserved bad blood. I have never received an apology from that attacker, but it's far from the worst thing that has happened to me in life or even on that particular day.

So, please accept my heartfelt apology.

Sheena, I have never believed in letting things rest when clarification and reason are in order and have not been fully exercised.

OK, the original thread is dead. (Personally, I think there were errors on both sides.)
But I’m intrigued by Peter (the Admin)’s comment that this forum is for the: “positive aspects of discussing Rickenbacker instruments.”
In the past, there have been “negative” posts about:
Necks being too narrow. Necks being too wide. Colors being too pink. Not enough choice of colors. Old models disappearing. Old models showing up again. Pickups being too this. Pickups being too that. Bad intonation. Not enough guitars being made. Waiting too long for orders. Not enough dealers. Not the right dealers. And on and on and on.
Are these topics (and others) verboten now?
Peter, it’s your site. You can set any rules you want. I’m just trying to clarify.
[If it was up to me, I’d allow legitimate criticism.]

PS: I LOVE Rickenbacker instruments. I love my wife too. But you know something, she isn’t perfect either. I, on the other hand, am perfect, of course.

Mark, I believe positive criticism is allowed. I didn't see the thread in question, but Peter has a line that he has to watch. Things can get ugly quickly and feelings can be hurt just as fast. In many cases the typed word doesn't express the true tone of the post, but perception is what we react to.

One last thing Mark... your wife is perfect! Come on admit it to yourself, just not to her.

Is that, Brian, anything like "original copy" or "exact estimate" or "sweet sorrow" or "working vacation?"

Many, many years ago Robert Klein did a sketch based on a TV commercial airing at the time (I think it was for Geritol). And the punch line was "My wife ... I think I'll keep her." [You had to be there.]
