Julian lennon sings when I'm 64
Well.... I'll be the first curmudgeon here...
This is what it's come down to? Lennon's son doing a boring and uninteresting cover of a McCartney tune for an insurance company?
sorry.... I barf all over this one.

It reminds me of a Karaoke performance and I hasten to add that I normally like Julians work.

>>Is it... ironical... that Julian Lennon is singing a Paul McCartney song? <<
It could have been a great idea, had it involved some sort of sense of humor to go with the sense of irony. Instead it's just a lame insurance commercial.
As far as whether he needs the money or not, maybe he just needs the work. Maybe he's bored of sitting at home. Did he ever go into any other kind of business?

Maybe he just like the song. Old dad did a few covers as well. Some think Ben E. King would be rolling over with John's cover of Stand By Me.
Just a thought.

I don't think it was as monstrous & hideous as most folks here do, but felt he could have done a better tune. I'm wondering if he covered a song by "The Bugaloos" (Who's blonde "Guitar player" went to the U.S. seeking fame & fortune via Sid & Marty Krofft, at the suggestion of John Lennon-True story) how folks would have felt. Thanks, Christian

JL's Rock'n'Roll album was hideous. Probably one of the largest squandered opportunities of all time... it could have been great if he'd just allowed himself to get back to his roots with a small rock combo. Instead all he created was a big bowl of over produced jello.
