Alan: I wish somebody would give Joe Cocker a guitar. He plays a lot of air guitar when he's "singing". I've always wondered what his "playing" sounds like...

Type O Negative's cover of "Daytripper" gave me the shudders.

Randy: i've seen the Woodstock movie, where young Joe Cocker was wandering around with a guitar... looks like he has lost it somewhere in-between the interview and his performance...

Sheena: Maybe one day he'll remember where he left it. Frankly, Joe always looks like a guy who's lost a lot of stuff...

If its crazy covers you're after, look no further than "me first and the gimme gimmes" with such ditties as "nobody does it better", "uptown girl" and the theme from "Cheers" all done as punk tunes. (I do the first one with a band I'm in)

My fav. Me first and the gimme gimmes is their version of "Mandy."

Vanilla Fudge doing the Supremmes' "Keep me Hangin' On". Awesome psychedelic rock.

Coldplay 'covering' (and somehow getting away without litigation) Kraftwerk's "computerlove" for their last single "Talk" makes me seethe with the bile of all consuming anger.

God I hate Coldplay

How could I forget... Red House Painters? I remember a really interesting take on "Silly Love Songs." Good stuff.

At least I'm not the only one who is rather anti-coldplay. (lack of capitalization intentional)

I tried to watch a one-hour Coldplay concert on PBS. They put me to sleep in less than 15 minutes...

The name suggests, perhaps...Image
Cannot say their music is not pleasant to the ear, but i agree with Randy - it's... hmmm... a sort of soporific... IMHO.

I don't even hate their music, I just couldn't care less about it. It's their pretentious attitude and middleclass self-satifaction that riles me. Plus the fact that the UK music media press (starved of any real genius) chose to champion them for the last 2 years when their inoffensive, forgetable student-rock really didn't merit such attention.

How dare they try to tell me that the world should adopt free-trade policies!

(sarcastic voice): "Is free trade a better, fairer way of doing things guys? oh right, I didn't realise that, what with me not being as intelligent, privileged or educated as you pr*cks - thanks!".

Who on earth do they think they are?!?!

Sorry about that - rant over

And what's with the singer's (I can't recall his name but I think he's got a kid named 'Moon Unit' errrr 'Snapple') hands? Do I really care what he has written on his hands? Perhaps it's his grocery list that needs to pick-up on the way home...
