I'm gonna do a push pull on my 4-2-5 also.

It's pretty neat, now we have two more happy Rick owners!!!

I don't know what the deal is, but I am getting awesome tones out of the 4-2-5! It is true there is 17 years difference in these pickups and my old 87, but I swear this thing screams! I normally play through the bridge with the tone set for max treble. I have the b2's mids bumped in the equalizer and I am using chromes. When I play through the bridge, I approach the CS/Geddy, growl/grind. The difference is using a pick or not. When I switch to the neck, the tone is set for max bass. I get the PM sound, as well as a reasonable Fender thump. And, I have the whole range in between. One trick pony? I think not!

I am convinced that the 4003 neck is overdesigned and with the tension of a 5th string the whole bass resonates and sings better ... I think back to my old 68 4001 ... I strung it up with rotosound strings and it sang ... the stress of those strings on that thin neck was an awesome combination ... When I had your bass here I ran it into my pod and used the marshall major model and it growled nicely ...

Quiet! You guys are making me regret selling it! Image
If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.

I was just at Guitar Center on Sunset(I had lunch at the Sunset Grill!) The guys went wild on the 4-2-5!!!!! I swapped my B2 and Hartke 4x10XL for a B2RE and a 4 ohm 4x10 HLF Classic cab. Ampeg all the way! The mids are SCREAMING!

I am here at Island Def Jam working on PC issues, mostly Blackberry stuff, and was real close to GC so I thought I'd go down and see what I could scare up. I am now officially done buying for a while. Of course, if I can't make the POD XT Live come to life, I may be selling it!!!

Charly,
Man....I'd love it if you posted more pics of your 4-2-5! I just ordered a 4003 Fireglo that will get the 4-2-5 treatment from Jeff as soon as I get it (June).
